KARACHI: Notices were issued to the Federal Secretary, Revenue, Director, Deputy Director of Intelligence and Investigations (I&I), Pakistan Customs and Collector Customs (Appraisement) West in a petition pertaining to trans-shipment consignments.
The petition was filed by Amir Impex Lahore on ground that Directorarte of I&I placed a hold on two consignments of electronic items destined for Dry Port, Lahore. The counsel from renowned law firm Franklin Law Associates expressed apprehension of coercive action also. He argued that under section 79, 121 and 123 jurisdiction in respect of consignments meant for trans-shipment lies with the custom authorities of port of destination but in this case Directorate of I&I may take adverse action.
The bench after hearing the counsel at length ordered issuance of notices to the respondents besides Deputy Attorney General. The bench also restrained the respondents from taking any coercive action against the petitioner till next date of hearing.
