QUETTA: Customs Intelligence Quetta (I&I) Quetta seized a passenger bus near Lackpass Tunnel on Quetta-Karachi Road and recovered large quantity of smuggled goods worth Rs24.4 million.
Information was passed through Director Muhammad Ismail to Additional Director Abdul Haye Shaikh regarding movement of smuggled goods on Quetta-Karachi Road. Therefore, Deputy Director Fahad Bashir formed a team comprising Intelligence Officers S. Hamid Habib, Abid Ahmed and Umair Abbasi, which intercepted the suspected vehicle.
Detailed examination led to recovery of large quantity of betel nut, Irani confectionary, Gutka and Chinese salt. Driver of the vehicle is arrested and Advanced Information Report is lodged.
In another event, ASO team of I&I Quetta chased a speeding bus, intercepted it recovered smuggled cloth worth Rs29 million. Advanced Information Report is lodged and investigations are underway. 115 Wing Chiltan Rifles assisted the Customs staff.
