GWADAR: Customs Intelligence Gwadar has seized large quantity of smuggled goods along with a passenger bus carrying the same worth Rs21.3 million.
On the directives of Director Gwadar Agha Saeed, Deputy Director Rana Aftab and Intelligence Officer Hanif Kurd have increased vigilance to check movement of smuggled goods.
An official said miscellaneous foreign origin goods including Irani confectionary, tyres, tiles, cloth, auto parts and cigarettes are transported to Yousuf goth Karachi. Yousuf Goth is the dumping place of smuggled goods. From here, these goods are distributed across the city in around 300 Suzuki pickups.
Customs does not have the capacity and resources to intercept passenger buses. The smugglers have a very organized network of associates along the highways and check posts. And whenever any action is taken, large number of associates of smugglers create law and order situation and block RCD Highway.
Despite all these odds, Customs is making all out efforts to check smuggling.
