KARACHI: A constitutional petition filed by Havelet Gas Private Limited against Federal Board of revenue and Inland Revenue Service (IRS) was disposed of here on Wednesday by an income tax appellate bench of High Court of Sindh.
The bench earlier heard counsel for the petitioner company who cited a number of case laws from Supreme Court of Pakistan. Khalid Rajper Advocate represented the IRS and argued in detail.
The bench after detailed hearing disposed of the petition with the directions to the Member IRS to decide the representation of the importer regarding levy of FED (Federal Excise Duty) within three weeks.
The bench also ordered that in the meanwhile disputed FED shall be secured in the shape of bank guarantee while assessing the GDs provisionally.
