KARACHI: An appellate bench of High Court of Sindh hearing a constitution petition filed by Dubai Centre, another by South East Trading Company ordered provisional release of home applicance imported by the petitioner companies.

The bench heard a counsel from Franklin Law Associates representing the petitioner companies. The counsel submitted that the impugned Valuation Ruling (VR) has been challenged in a Revision Application now pending before the Director General Valuation.

The counsel from the reputed law firm expressed willingness of the importers/ petitioners for securing the differential amount of duty and taxes with the Collector of Customs concerned.

The bench as an interim arrangement allowed the request in view of incurring port expenditures and ordered the petitioners to deposit the un-disputed amount of duty and taxes with the department while securing disputed amount with the Collector of Custom concerned.

The bench also ordered that goods be released immediately after confirmation of such payment through pay order while fate of the amount so secured was made subject to outcome of Revision Application before the DG Valuation.
