KARACHI: The All Pakistan Customs Agents Association (APCAA) was asked to hold its elections in a transparent manner with opportunity of participation to all members and to implement the order passed by the Regulator, Director General Trade Organizations (DGTO).
In a letter addressed to the Secretary General of APCAA, Wasiq Hussain Khan, Proprietor of A.K. Enterprise and a prominent member who filed a petition against alleged illegal acts of APCAA for holding general elections of the APCAA stated that DGTO has ordered issuance of a new election schedule and adherence to Trade Organization Rules 2013.
The letter says that instead of implementing the said order, APCAA’s Secretary General posted a notification number APCAA/SZH/017/2021, Dated 03-09-2021 which is an attempt to manipulate the elections retrospectively.
The letter also challenges the “Revised Voter List Associates” and alleged illegal changes made therein without approval from DGTO.
The letter reminded the Secretary General of APCAA that elections needs to be transparent and order of the Regulator shall be implemented in letter and spirit. This exercise was necessary to ensure that all eligible members participate in the elections without any illogical classification of members.
