KARACHI: An appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprisinf Justice Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui and Justice Agha Faisal declined to grant request for restoration of the Sales Tax Registration Number.
The bench was hearing a plea filed by four companies Malawi Enterprises, Imran Impex, A.M. International and Fabrica Apparel which sought restoration of suspended STRN.
The bench heard the counsel for petitioner and said that if only an order was in field and was impugned then it could have ordered restoration but as show cause notice has been issued, the respondents will be put on notice.
The same bench also disposed of a petition filed by M/s Zain Brothers which imported inter-lining fabric.
The counsel for petitioner company stated that it was a temporary import and thus exemption was claimed. Instead of accepting exemption, a show cause notice was issued, the counsel contended.
The bench after hearing the sides disposed of the petition with the direction to the departmental authority to decide the issue within a week time while entertaining application under section 83 (B) of the Customs Act 1969.
