KARACHI: An immediate release of a vehicle imported by an Over Seas Pakistani under personal baggage scheme was ordered by a division bench of High Court of Sindh.
The bench comprising Justice Muhammad Junaid Ghaffar and Justice Mrs Rashida Asad earlier heard Aqeel Ahmed Khan Advocate appearing for petitioner Rehan Arif who retired from UAE Electric company and imported the vehicle under personal baggage scheme. He with drew amount in Dirhams from his bank account and deposited the same in his another account at UBL Dubai UAE which was then transferred to his account at UBL Model Colony branch Karachi.
The duty and taxes were paid from bank account at Karachi and were accepted by the Customs. Thereafter it dawned upon them that importer/Over Seas Pakistani has violated the terms of Import Policy ORDER 2020 and the account number from which remittance has generated is not mentioned.
The bench after hearing Afsheen Aman Advocate along with A.G.Soomro AO, MCC West perused the banking transactions and found that banking channel was used for transfer of remittance. The bench then ordered Pakistan Customs to immediately release the imported vehicle.
