KARACHI: Director of Customs Valuation Karachi has revised the customs values of body spray, personal deodorants, anti-perspirant vide Valuation Ruling No.1536/2021.

Customs values of these items were earlier determined in July 2020. Importers filed revision application before Director General Customs Valuation, which were rejected.

Later on, one of the importers filed a writ petition before Islamabad High Court, which ordered that the Valuation Ruling 1456/2020 was in-valid for being more than 90 days old.

Stakeholders including Sharjeel Jamal of UTrade Logistics and Agha Shahid Majid stated the VR was more than 90 days old and the price trend of said goods have changed in the international market.

After due process, Directorate General revised the values of above mentioned goods downwards.

Talking to Customnews.pk, Sharjeel Jamal of UTrade Logistics said the values had been revised on merit adding that importers/traders would not succumb to the demands of officials and all values will be determined in line with the actually prevailing prices in the international market.
