KARACHI: Exporters have approached Director General of Transit Trade in Karachi complaining about the delays in processing and clearance of export consignments containing perishable items, which could cause severe losses to the exporters and urged the Director General to urge Directorate of Transit Trade Quetta to expedite clearance/processing of export shipments to Afghanistan.

M/s E&U Foods (Pvt) Ltd is approved industrial unit for manufacturing of Wheat Flour and allied products at Export Processing Zones Karachi providing local employment and enhancing exports from Pakistan.

Company shipped wheat flour in container for Export from KEPZ to Afghanistan through Chamman Exporting Station. Export from Export Processing Zones to Afghanistan is allowed as EPZ Customs rules 1981 by Export Policy Order 2020.

The exporter complained their shipment already assessed, examined and GD filed at EPZ Custom station and reached exporting station Chamman, export of shipment had not been processed/Cleared from Directorate of Transit Trade Quetta and Chamman.

Delay in processing/clearance for export of perishable item will cause loss of millions to the exporters negatively impact legal exports from Export Processing Zones Karachi by discouraging its investors who invested in Export Processing Zones which are established through EPZA ordinance 1980.
