LAHORE: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Lahore has lodged an FIR against several persons including Chaudry Javed Gujjar, an office bearer of PML-N in Lahore for attacking and manhandling Customs staff and obstructing execution of official duty.

According to details, Information was passed through Director Asad Raza Rizvi to Additional Director I&I Lahore Hasan Farid regarding presence of a truck loaded with smuggled cloth at M/s Basra Goods Transport near Nawaz Sharif Hospital in Lahore. The goods were to be transported to Faisalabad.

Customs team led by Superintendent Zulfiqar Ali Dogar reached the sport and found the subject vehicle loaded with foreign origin cloth. Customs officials asked the owner of truck stand Rashid Ali and Munshi Muhammad Imran about the documentary evidence of the legal import and possession of the goods.

However, Rashid Ali and Munshi Muhammad Imran called Chaudry Javed Gujjar owner of M/s Ghous Azam Goods Transport. Chaudry Javed Gujjar is a local office bearer of PML-N and allegedly runs a racket of criminals and hooligans.

Gujjar arrived with around 20 of his associates and attacked the Customs staff and manhandled Superintendent Dogar, they also attempted to snatch official rifle from Sepoy Mian Yasir.

Soon police arrived on the call of Customs staff and arrested Chaudry Javed and Muhammad Irfan, while the others managed to escape.

The arrested accused and truck loaded with smuggled cloth were brought to Customs premises and cased was lodged. The arrested accused are on a three-day remand.

Sources claimed the arrested accused was running a racket in most parts of Punjab, whom were involved in several criminal activities, and more importantly provided assistance and protection to smugglers and other criminals.

It was also known that Chaudry Javed Gujjar had several times attacked Customs officials and snatched the seized goods from them. However, the accused had kind of impunity during the PML-N government.
