LAHORE: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Lahore has seized a train-bogie full of smuggled goods, which had been transported from Karachi to Lahore.
Information received through Director Asad Raza to Additional Director Hasan Farid that smuggled gods would be transported to Lahore from Karachi via train.
Deputy directors Tayyeba Bokhari and Ali Akbar Zaidi formed a team comprising superintendent Agha Qadeer, Inspectors Nauman Ashraf, Allah Ditta, Tipu, Asif jakkhar and sepoy Nadeem to pursue the information.
Subsequently, I&I Lahore team seized goods of complete bogie of goods train coming from Karachi. The goods are Iranian juice, chocolate, almonds and other miscellaneous items. The value of detained goods is approximately Rs 45 million.
Sources said ASO Preventive Karachi had been super-efficient and broke the network of smugglers, However a BS-21 officer patronized the smugglers and paralyzed the ASO Preventive Karachi team through abnormal transfers.
Smuggled goods are now freely being brought and distributed acreoss the country through Karachi.
