Customs Quetta seizes 43 tons of poppy seed, other smuggled goods

QUETTA: MCC Preventive Quetta with the assistant of FC has seized 43 tons of poppy seed along with other smuggled goods at Nushki. The value of the seized goods comes to Rs44.5 million.

Information was received through Collector Customs (E&C) Quetta Irfan Javed to Additional Collector Yasir Kalwar and Deputy Collector Muhammad Zohaib to the effect that foreign origin goods will be smuggled to down country.

The information was shared with FC Commandant Noshki. The Customs team comprising Superintendent Saleem Shah, Inspectors Naseer Shaheen, Aslam Solangi along with FC staff led by Colonel Muhammad Asif, kept strict vigilance on Check posts and started strict checking.

Large quantity of smuggled goods including 43 tons of poppy seed, petrol engine water pumps, Window Air Conditioners and electric/gas heaters from different passenger buses and trucks.

The Customs staff took the possession of said smuggled goods into the Customs Check Post Noshki and seized the same.

Further investigations are underway.
