KARACHI: Deciding the Special Customs Reference Application filed four years ago by Additional Collector of Customs, Appraisement, West, a custom appellate bench ruled in favor of respondent Osaka Electronic & Industries Corporation.
The applicant department impugned a judgment by Custom Appellate Tribunal which allowed the order passed by Collector of Appeals and customs hierarchy in favor of Osaka Industries.
The issue in dispute was assessment of consignment of a PVC Electric Insulation Tapes in Jumbo Rolls. The GD was filed and value was declared on tare weight but the department assessed including the weight of inner core also in the value.
The bench after hearing the counsel for applicant side and counsel from Franklin Law Associates appearing for the respondent Osaka Electronics decide the application in favor of Osaka and against the applicant department Pakistan Customs.
