MCC Preventive advised Sindh government to stop encroachments on Custom’s land at Maurypur

KARACHI: In a letter to Member Board of Revenue government of Sindh, MCC Preventive Karachi notified the Federal Government reserves the right to recover possession of its lands from unauthorized occupants under the provisions of Federal Government Lands and Buildings (Recovery of Possession) Ordinance, 1965.

Last month, MCC Preventive was informed that some unknown persons, reportedly working on behalf of Government of Sindh, have demolished a section of boundary wall of Customs Colony, Maurypur situated at Maurypur Road, about 390 meters towards East from Police Station Maurypur, without any notice or intimation.

The office of Deputy Commissioner, District Keamari was contacted immediately via telephone to ascertain their knowledge of this issue and to have the unilateral action of demolition stopped forthwith.

During the call they requested to have the documents containing Pakistan Customs’ title to this land sent to the Government of Sindh.

The documents containing Pakistan Customs’ title to this land along with a brief containing important facts of the issue were forwarded with the request to immediately stop the demolition if being done by the Government of Sindh and to assist Customs in removing illegal encroachments from the area.

Additional Collector Omar Shafique mentioned Federal Government reserves the right to recover possession of its lands from unauthorized occupants under the provisions of Federal Government Lands and Buildings (Recovery of Possession) Ordinance, 1965.

Talking to Customnews.pk, Anwer Iqbal, Member of Vigilance Committee for FBR’s Lands in Sindh, said the Vigilance Committee was actively pursuing recovery of Custom’s land from illegal occupation.
