QUETTA: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta has seized large quantity of smuggled goods and lodged two separate FIRs against various accused.
Information was received to the Director Muhammad Ismail to Deputy Director Amjad Hussain Rajpar that a quantity of smuggled goods would be transported to Quetta through Hino truck.
Accordingly, a team comprising Intelligence Officers Muhammad Shabbir Khan, Hamid Habib and Sepoys was constituted to intercept the truck.
Staff of Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation Quetta intercepted the suspected truck near Air Port Road Quetta.
Apparently, the truck was loaded miscellaneous goods. On query, the driver produced the Custom GDs, which had already been used by them. The cross stamps of Custom check posts were on face of GDs.
The value of the seized goods including spices and spare parts along with the transporting vehicles comes to Rs16.35 million. An FIR is lodged and investigations are underway.
In another incident, staff of I&I Quetta recovered 28.24 tons of smuggled betel nut from a Hino truck. The value of the seized goods along with transporting truck comes to Rs62.49 million. An FIR is lodged and investigations are underway.
