KARACHI: Chief Collector Enforcement South Saifuddin Junejo has formed a committee headed by Additional Collector MCC Preventive Karachi Omar Shafique, a highly reputed officer, to conduct detailed stock taking of state warehouses in the jurisdiction of MCC Preventive.
The committee comprising Assistant Collectors Ms. Hijab Zehra and Shafiullah; SPS Abdul Ghaffar Lasi; IPS Adnan Asghar, SPO Sibtain Haider and PO Mohsin Shehzad will submit its report within 10 days.
In a letter to Collector Preventive, Chief Collector referred to FBR’s dated 26th August, 2020; Chief Collector (Enforcement) letter dated 29th October, and 20th November, 2020 regarding stocktaking of state warehouses, and stated the detailed report of the stock taking of state warehouses was still awaited.
It is relevant to emphasize that as per procedure, stock-taking of the state warehouses is required twice a year and, also whenever specifically ordered by the Collector of Customs.
Meanwhile, as directed by the Member Customs (Operations) Tariq Huda, destruction may be stopped till the outcome of stock taking.
It may be mentioned here that one Badshah Khan in nexus with Customs sepoy and police officials were involved in stealing goods from the state warehouse. In November 2020, on the directives of the walls of state warehouses were heightened to keep thieves away.
Moreover, then Superintendent ASO Iftikhar Hasan recommended suspension of Customs sepoys involved in the crime and also lodged FIR against Badshah Khan and police officials involved.
