PESHAWAR: MCC Peshawar has lodged an FIR against an Afghan national Waheedullah for attempting to smuggle arms and ammunition to Afghanistan.

On the directives of Collector Muhammad Saleem, Deputy Collector Rizwan and Assistant Collector Zahid Khan tightened the vigilance on consignments passing through Torkham.

Staff of MCC Appraisement Peshawar led Superintendent Yaqoob Shah and Inspector Asghan Khan intercepted a 22-wheeler Mercedes Benz on the basis of abnormal scan report. The vehicle was loaded with cement meant for export to Afghanistan.

The examination of the vehicle led to the recovery of arms and ammunitions including 120 pistols and 43,500 bullets from the secret cavities of the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle Waheedullah (Afghan citizen) has been taken into custody.  The value of 120 pistols (different brands) is Rs4.8 million, the value of ammunition is Rs2.0 million and cement is valued at Rs0.37 million.

Investigations are underway.
