QUETTA: Customs Check Post, lakpass of MCC (Enforcement & Compliance), Quetta with the assistance of Frontier Corps Balochistan seized 110,000 litres of smuggled Iran origin diesel along with transporting vehicles .
Around 60,000 liters of diesel was recovered from Hino truck-trailer-with container. The staff also recovered fake transit documents showing descriptions of goods as cooking oil cans from the dashboard of vehicles which transpired that the same were being used to hoodwink the customs authorities.
Container was sealed but after thorough inspection it was observed that the said sealed was unsealed earlier. Transit transport being used for smuggling purposes is alarming . Meanwhile, Customs Qurtta also recovered 50 tons of betel nut from lakpas, Darakshan-Bolan and nushki from trucks and LPG bowzer with the assistance of Frontier Corps.
Upon directions of Federal Board of Revenue, Chief Collector (Balochistan) Gul Rehman has advised his team to intensify the anti-smuggling drive. Collector Irfan Javed has tightened vigilance on the movement of smuggled goods and many seizures have been made in a short time.
