KARACHI: ASO of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Karachi in a joint operation with Pakistan Maritime Security Agency seized narcotics from a boat in sea and arrested several persons including citizens of Iran.
Information was passed through Director Yaqoob Mako to Additional Director Rana Tasleem and Deputy Director Tauseef Gorchani regarding movement of narcotics through sea.
A joint intelligence-based counter operation was carried out by Directorate General Intelligence & Investigation , Karachi and Maritime Security Agency.
Resultanty, smuggling of narcotics was averted successfully upon coastal territories of Pakistan Customs Waters.
During operation alongside the coast, the PMSA and Directorate I&I-Customs staff intercepted a wooden boat namely Al-Subhan, within territorial jurisdiction of Pakistan Customs Waters, near coastal area, Karachi along 10 crew members on board.
Search of boat was conducted, which led to recovery of 06kg of Crystal Ice worth Rs52 million, 1.5kg opium, Irani currency and mobile phones. The value of the boar is Rs50 million.
On the directives of Director Yaqoob Mako, Intelligence Officer Muhammad Sadiq lodged an FIR against the persons onboard the boat and further investigations are underway.
An official said it was after a long time that an operation was conducted in sea adding the ASO of Customs Intelligence Karachi was fully active now.
