The recovered goods include Nescafé Coffee, Iranian origin Chocolates and Confectionary, UK origin wheat biscuit and infant milk , Indian origin Lace etc.

Keeping in view the above facts, it is crystal clear that the recovered Afghan transit goods were to be consumed within the country without payment of legitimate duty & taxes. Total value of goods is Rs13.85 million and that of vehicle is Rs5.0 million.

An official said these were Afghan transit goods which have been replaced and were to be consumed in the country.

The official said the cartel of traders involved in pilferage and smuggling of Afghan Transit Trade goods were backed by certain parliamentarians. Using their connections, this cartel of smugglers had got stopped the scanning and stamping of Afghan trade goods, which made it difficult to detect pilferage of these goods.
