QUETTA: Customs Quetta has seized large quantity of smuggled goods at Darakhshan-Bolan Check Post. The seized goods worth Rs70 million include betel nut, cigarettes, tyres, mobile phones and shoes etc.

Collector Quetta Irfan Javed has expedited the anti-smuggling drive and advised the staff to keep strict vigilance on the movement of vehicles through various check posts to foil any attempt of transporting smuggled goods into the country.

Information was passed through the Collector Irfan Javed regarding movement of smuggled goods into the country. Deputy collector Akbar Jan alerted Inspector Shahzad Akhtar. A suspected vehicle was stopped and large quantity of smuggled goods were recovered.

It may be mentioned here that Customs Quetta is rigorously pursuing the anti-smuggling campaign across Baluchistan.

Moreover, Customs Quetta as part of its campaign against non-custom-paid vehicles seized 9 such vehicles worth millions of rupees. This operation was conducted at Lakpas Check-post. On the directives of Additional Collector Yasir Kalwar, Deputy Collector Akbar Jan, Superintendent Aslam Khan, Inspectors Ahmed Nawaz Zehri and Muhammad Hashim took part in the operation.

Chief Collector Feroz Alam Junejo has advised Collector Preventive Irfan Javed to deal with the smugglers with iron hands so that the province could be rid of this menace.

Collector Irfan Javed said that despite shortage of resources Customs Quetta was taking all measures to deal with this menace and had been able to efficiently limit the incidence of smuggling.
