KARACHI: The notices for alleged contempt of court were issued against Collector and Deputy Collector of Customs, Port Muhammad Bin. Qasim in a petition filed by Jubilee Textile and Gravity Trading Corporation.
A counsel from Franklin Law Associates earlier arguing the contempt of court application submitted that court allowed provisional release of Grey Fabric against deposition of disputed amount of duty and taxes in the form of pay order and security deposit with the Collectorate concerned.
The alleged contemnors have not released the consignment and instead despite orders encashed the pay oder and security deposit so that amount so collected in tax year 2019.
The SHC bench comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Zuliqar Ahmed Khan after hearing the counsel for petitioner/applicant ordered issuance of contempt of court after two weeks.
