SHC disposes of Menthol Crystal case

KARACHI: A division bench of High Court of Sindh disposed of a petition filed by Excellent Impex City Pvt Limited against Federal Secretary, Revenue, Collector and Deputy Collector of of Customs MCC Appraisement, West and Karachi International Container Terminal after counsel for petitioner informed the bench that the consignments of Menthol Crystal, food grade have been provisionally released by the customs.

A counsel from law firm Franklin Law Associates submitted that release was made after securing of duties and taxes before the concerned collectorate and thus petitioner is not pressing the instant petition. He said that petition can be disposed of provided that  respondents be directed to conduct themselves and  made adjudication strictly in accordance with law providing a fair opportunity of being heard.

As Khalid Mehmood Rajpar advocate, counsel for Pakistan Customs and Assistant Attorney General Aminullah Siddiqui did not dispute the technical position, the  bench disposed of the petition with direction to the respondents to complete the adjudication proceedings within four weeks from the date of receipt of the order of the bench after providing opportunity of being heard.
