SHC defers hearing till Jul 21 on request of respondent PCG

KARACHI: A division bench of High Court of Sindh adjourned hearing of a petition against Pakistan Coast Guards till July 21 as counsel for the uniformed force sought time to reply to the petition.

Syed Hakeemullah Shah moved the court through counsel Ms Dil Khurram Shaheen advocate who submitted that PCG confiscated 1240 cartons of Benson & Hedges cigarette.

The tribunal ruled in favour of the petitioner/owner and no appeal has been filed by the respondents against the order of the tribunal yet release of the confiscated item was being denied, she submitted.

The bench after a brief hearing placed the PCG on notice for July 06. A counsel appearing for the respondent PCG sought time to go through the contents of the petition.

The bench allowed the same and adjourned further proceedings till July 21.
