KARACHI: Karachi received thunder showers here on Monday afternoon and 44 mms of rain was recorded at different parts of city with Saddar zone had maximum rain fall.
Strong winds accompanied the drizzle which later turned into heavy fall. Trees were uprooted near Governor House, Nishat Cinema and others blocking the roads leading to traffic jams. People who rushed back to home after rain faced worst congestion and their vehicles ran out of fuel.
Karachi Electric resorted to shut down in many areas, besides longer outage in the name of technical faults were reported from a dozen localities with Korangi remained worst hit.
Met office has predicted rain on Tuesday afternoon also and another heavy rain fall will add to the miseries of the people.
Unlike past, no officials of KMC or KW &SB were seen on roads to clear the rain water.
