KARACHI: ASO of Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Karachi seized 50,000 liters of smuggled High Speed Diesel (HSD) worth Rs5.079 million and lodged an FIR.

Director I&I Karachi Yaqoob Mako had a meeting with the Directorate’s staff and made it clear that only performing officials and officers could keep their postings.

Information was received to the effect that smuggled / non duty paid Iran origin HSD would be transported through Hino Oil Tanker from Hub Chowki to Nooriabad for its further disposal and illegal sale. In pursuance of the said information, Intelligence Officer Humairuddin intercepted a Hino Oil Tanker near Toll Plaza Mochko, Northern Bypass.

Upon cursory checking, the Hino Oil Tanker was found loaded with High Speed Diesel. The driver was asked to produce legal import documents regarding legitimate import, lawful possession and transportation of the High Speed Diesel loaded in the said Oil Tanker. In response thereto, he produced Goods Transfer Note purportedly issued by M/s Byco Petroleum Pakistan Ltd showing therein delivery of 50,000 Liters HSD oil, to the customer namely Shahjahan Petroleum Services Nooriabad.

During search of the cabin of the aforesaid Oil Tanker, another Goods Transfer Note purportedly issued by M/s Byco Petroleum Pakistan Ltd, mentioning therein exactly same seal serial Nos, weight, product dip and print time but different print date and customer namely Burki Petroleum Services Nooriabad, was recovered from the cabin.

Moreover, during preliminary verbal inquiry from M/s Byco Petroleum Pakistan Ltd, it was known the Goods Transfer Notes were fake. The goods were seized and FIR is lodged against the driver of the vehicle Ghulam Hyder and others to be ascertained later.
