KARACHI: Anti-smuggling Organization (ASO) of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Karachi, in a joint operation with Police, has recovered huge quantity of smuggled goods from warehouses in Yusuf Goth, which is a dumping ground for smuggled goods.

Director I&I Karachi Yaqoob Mako in coordination with Additional IG Police Ghulam Nabi Memon planned a massive crackdown on warehouses in Yusuf Goth. A team headed by Deputy Director Saad Rabbani was formed, while SSP West Fida Hussain and SP Baldia Shahla Qureshi provided all assistance to the ASO team.

A large contingent of Police and ASO I&I Karachi led by Superintendent Sikandar Khanzada cordoned off the area to avoid any law and order situation.

Several warehouses were raided in a 12-hour long operation under the supervision of Deputy Director Saad Rabbani, and smuggled worth Rs200 million were recovered. The goods include  7 dump trucks load of betel nut, 3 dump trucks load of Indian gutka, 2 dump truck loads of Irani origin dry milk, 2 dump trucks load of cloth, cigarettes and tyres.

It may be mentioned here the Customs authorities have expedited the anti-smuggling drive in line with Prime Minister Imran Khan’s anti-smuggling policy across the country.

Director I&I YAqoob Mako and Additional IG Ghulam Nabi Memon have decided that joint surprise raids would be conducted in Yusuf Goth after short intervals. Yusuf Goth is the dumping ground where smuggled goods brought from Quetta via passenger buses, pick-ups and other private vehicles are brought and dumped for further distribution in the country.
