KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Karachi has booked three steel companies for fiscal fraud, submission of tampered documents to evade government’s legitimate revenue.
FIRs have been lodged against M/s Dost Muhammad Steel Traders Lahore for evading Rs2.285 million, M/s Kaam Trade Impex Gujranwala for evading Rs11.819 million and M/s Sheikh Hameed & Sons Lahore for evading Rs11.436 million.
Information was received through Director Intelligence & Investigation-Customs, Karachi Irfan Javed to the effect that certain importers and their accomplices have committed fiscal fraud evading huge amount of legitimate Government revenue against Customs clearance of their imported consignments of “Stainless Steel Sheets in Coils of Secondary Quality” through gross mis-declaration thereof.
In order to verify veracity of the received information and on the basis of the relevant information/documents available in WeBOC System, relevant import documents were retrieved from the concerned bank & shipping agent.
Superintendent Special Investigation Unit (SIP) of the Directorate General of Intelligence & Investigation-Customs, Karachi Dost Muhammad accordingly scrutinized the relevant documents/record.
Scrutiny established the above mentioned importers uploaded fake and fabricated documents in the WeBOC system to defraud the national exchequer.
FIRs have been lodged and investigation is underway.
