MULTAN: Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of MCC Multan has been quite efficient against smuggling and seized smuggled goods worth Rs279 million in first half of April 2020.
On the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan to curb smuggling, Collector MCC E&C Multan Fayaz Anwar advised ADC I Syed Ali Abbass Gardezi (Multan) and ADC II Ghulam Nabi Kamboh (Faisalabad) and Deputy Collector Amjad Leghari to tighten vigilance on the movement of smuggled goods and expedite raids.
ASO Multan Division seized non-duty paid luxury vehicles, raisins, almonds, gutka, cigarettes, betel nut, smuggled diesel etc worth Rs103.51 million in various activities.
Similarly, ASO Faisalabad Division seized mono sodium glutamate, cumin seeds, cloth, cashew nut, betel nut, milk powder and almonds etc worth Rs176.11 million in several operations.
Moreover, on the directives of Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Gwadar Irfan Javed, Assistant Director Khalid Umar formed a team, which alongwith FC and other law enforcement agencies raided a betel nut processing plant in Hub area and recovered smuggled betel nut and other goods worth Rs3.7 million.
