Customs foils attempt to smuggle currency

GWADAR: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Gwadar in a joint operation with FC Baluchistan has seized Pakistani currency worth Rs7.0 million, which was being smuggled to Iran.

Information was received through Director Irfan Javed that local currency would be smuggled to Iran on a motorcycle via Jiwani Border. Assistant Director Khalid Umar mounted surveillance, and subsequently the suspected motorcycle was intercepted.

Customs staff recovered Rs7.0 million from the rider. After legal formalities, the currency along with the motorcycle was seized. Hanif Kurd is appointed IO of the case and investigations are underway.
