Pakistan Customs restrained from issuing notices to clearing agent, Non Payment of Federal Excise Duty

KARACHI: Pakistan Customs was restrained by a customs appellate bench of High Court of Sindh, from sending demand notices to clearing agents in respect of Federal Excise Duty against imported hybrid vehicles.

The bench comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Mahmood A Khan earlier heard Zia-ul-Hasan advocate representing Pakhal Enterprises. The vehicles were released and FE duty if any was to be paid by the importer and not the clearing agent, the counsel contended.

The bench while issuing pre-admission notices to the respondent officials stopped them from issuing notices to the petitioner/clearing agent for the time being.
