ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Friday announced that nearly 45 per cent more income tax returns were received for the tax year 2019 compared to the preceding year, Dawn reported.

The board received 2.44 million tax returns until Feb 28 against 1.68m filed tax year 2018.

Last date for the filing of tax return is Feb 29.

An official statement issued by the FBR said the last date will not be extended further. “It is requested to all to file their returns,” the statement said adding the tax directory for tax year 2019 will be uploaded on website from Mar 1.

The names of taxpayers, who did not file their returns for tax year 2019 will be dropped from the tax directory. The break-up shows that so far, 2.3m returns were filed by individuals, 62,403 by association of persons and 40,988 returns by companies.
