Adjournment sought to deal with importers: SHC

KARACHI: Hearing a constitution petition filed by an importer of steel products , an appellate bench of High Court of Sindh comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Mahmood A Khan observed that adjournment sought by the departmental side means that they intend to settle the matter with the importer.

The bench noted that despite report of classification committee in favor of importer, the consignment was detained. Earlier Zain Jatoi advocate appearing for the petitioner/importer said that court was moved for implementation of Order In Original passed two years back. The consignment was of primary quality steel and issue is simply of the valuation, contended Zain Jatoi advocate.

The counsel appearing for the department sought time to see instructions at which the court making the observations above reluctantly allowed more time to the respondents to respond.
