KARACHI: Anti-smuggling organization (ASO) of MCC Preventive Karachi has seized 3,500 liters of smuggled diesel and the transporting Hino truck at Mochko Choke Point on RCD Highway. Two persons are arrested and FIR is lodged.
Information was passed through Collector Saquif Saeed to Additional Collector Haroon Malik to the effect that a Hino Truck containing smuggled and non duty paid Iranian diesel oil concealed in the specially fabricated hidden tank on the floor and on the sides of the truck is coming from Khuzdar for delivery at Karachi and would pass from Mochko Choke Point. On the directives of Deputy Collector Asim Awan, the staff of ASO posted at Customs Mochko Choke Point, mounted surveillance.
The suspected vehicle was spotted and stopped. Cursory search of the vehicle found hidden compartments on the floor and sides of the truck.
Driver of the vehicle Naseebullah and Muhammad Shahid were asked to explain the hidden compartments filled with diesel, but they could not provide any reasonable explanation.
The recovered diesel worth Rs0.364 million and the vehicle worth Rs5 million approximately, were seized. Further investigations are underway.
