Preventive Quetta foils smuggling of cigarettes to India from Afghanistan

QUETTA: Customs Preventive Quetta has foiled a bid of smuggling of cigarettes from Afghanistan to India through transit trade.

Information was received through Additional Collector Yasir Wahab Kulwar to Deputy Collector Chudhry Imran Afzal Lila regarding smuggling of cigarettes through transit trade. A team was formed comprising Superintendent Saleem Agha and Inspectors Essa Khan, Aslam Khan and Ansr Gujar.

A 10-wheeler truck declared to contain fresh, onions in transit to Delhi, India originating from Kandahar, Afghanistan, was stopped at Yaro Check Post.

Upon examination of the vehicle, huge quantity of foreign origin cigarettes were found in the garb of onions. The value of the seized goods is estimated to be Rs40 million.

The goods have been seized and further proceedings including lodging of FIR are underway.
