SHC disposes of petition in old clothes import case
KARACHI: A petition pertaining to import of old clothes was disposed of on Tuesday by Custom Appellate bench of High Court of Sindh directing the custom officials to re-assess the consignment and release the same on payment of duty and taxes as per de-novo assessment.
The bench comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Mahmood A Khan earlier heard a petition filed by one Imran through Franklin Law Associates. A counsel for the petitioner submitted that the court has ordered re-examination of the goods imported and as per report, the goods declaration filed by the importer matched the relevant documents.
The bench in view of the re-examination report, by consent of the parties disposed of the petition with the direction to the customs to make a new assessment, determine the duty and taxes on such re-assessment and release after payment of all government levies.
