Importer booked for attempting to clear Indian origin goods

KARACHI: MCC Appraisement West has lodged an FIR against M/s Redox (SMC-Private) Limited and Muhammad Azhar Naeem of M/s Unique Traders for misdeclaring the origin and classification of imported goods.

Information was received through Collector Wajid Ali to Additional Collector Aamir Theim that certain importers are involved in the clearance of Indian origin goods in the garb of China origin. Indian origin goods are not importable in terms of amendment in the Import Policy Order in vogue.

In order to confirm veracity of information Assistant Collector Rizwan Principal Appraiser Shafiullah and Appraising Officer Ghani Soomro scrutinized two consignments imported from Jebel Ali by M/s Redox.

In order to confirm the declaration of origin as well as classification of goods by the trader and customs agent M/s Unique Traders, physical examination was conducted. Labels pasted on goods revealed that the consignments containing Hematite Oxide were manufactured by M/s. Locus Paints & Coatings, India (Made in India) and classifiable under PCT 3206.4990 and whereas Goods Declarations filed for the clearance of the same through custom agent M/s. Unique Traders declared origin of goods as China and PCT Code 2821.1010.

It is therefore established that M/s Redox (SMC-Private) Limited, their custom agent M/s Unique Traders deliberately and willfully attempted to import the consignment of Indian Origin which is otherwise not importable in terms of Import Policy Order.

The goods have being seized and FIR is lodged.
