KARACHI: Six identical petitions were disposed off here on Wednesday by a custom appellate bench of High Court of Sindh comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Mehmood A Khan after respondent custom officials informed the bench that order passed by the bench to assess the consignments under section 80 of the Customs Act 1969 has been complied with.
The petitions were filed by Gravity Trading, Jubilee Textile, Ovation Import, Iqra Textile and Spectrum Enterprises. Today when the petitions came up for hearing, respondents filed statements that they have removed the hold after orders by the court on 7-10-2019 and assessed the GDs under section 80 of the Customs Act 1969.
The counsel for petitioner objected and told the court that the consignments were assessed in violation of law and directions issued by the Assistant Collector -IV, CIU and Deputy Collector (Examination).
The bench noted that the petitioners sought direction of the court to order removal of hold and processing of GDs under section 80 of the Customs Act 1969 which purpose has been achieved. The bench disposed of the petitions while directing the petitioners to seek remedy available to them.
