ASO Preventive recovers smuggled goods, lodges FIRs

KARACHI: ASO of MCC Preventive Karachi has lodged two FIRs against owners of smuggled vehicles, which were earlier recovered.

Information was received through Collector Preventive Saquib Saeed to Additional Collector ASO Haron Malik that smuggled vehicles including a Toyota Passo and a Toyota Mark-X were plying in the city.

Subsequently a team was formed headed by Deputy Collector ASO Akbar Jan and IPS Iftikhar Hassan. The suspected vehicles were spotted and stopped. The occupants of the vehicles could not provide documents to substantiate lawful import and possession of the vehicles.

Examination found that the chassis numbers of the vehicles had been tampered. The vehicles valuing around Rs5.5 million have been seized and investigations are underway.

FIR is lodged against Asmat Ullah and Ameenullah Khan in respect of Toyota Mark X while the driver of the Toyota Passo car had managed to flee at the time the car was stopped by the Customs staff.

In another case, ASO of MCC Preventive Karachi recovered miscellaneous foreign origin goods worth Rs2.21 million including tyres, auto parts, cloth etc from a Hino passenger bus of Al-Nisar Coach SR Movers at Mochko on RCD Highway in a joint operation with Rangers. The bus worth Rs17.2 million was also seized. An FIR is lodged against driver of the vehicle Mola Dad and investigations are underway.
