KARACHI: Baluchistan Police has arrested one Haji Bashir and one Waris Khan in relation to the murder of Deputy Collector Abdul Qudoos Shaikh. Haji Bashir is the younger brother of notorious smuggler Haji Sadiq, while Waris Khan is the son-in-law of Haji Sadiq.

Haji Sadiq is already on bail in the murder case of Deputy Collector Dr. Abdul Qudoos Shaikh. The accused were arrested with the help of geo-fencing and call record analysis of one Lowing Khan, cook at the check post from where the martyred officer was returning when he was attacked.

Lowing Khan informed the police that Haji Bashir had asked him to inform them as soon as Abdul Qudoos Shaikh left the checkpost.

According to sources, the accused admitted of attacking the Deputy Collector and said they only wanted to terrorize the officer and had no intention of killing him.

Baluchistan Police was under extreme pressure to arrest the murderers as Senior Customs officer actively pursued the case.

Deputy Collector Preventive Quetta Customs Dr. Abdul Qudoos Sheikh along with Inspector Ghulam Hussain Khoso, after carrying out a successful operation at Customs Check Post, were returning back to Quetta when they were intercepted by a Toyota Vitz and Toyota Hilux Vigo. Around ten masked people, armed with guns, jumped out of their vehicles and overpowered the inspector while others manhandled and assaulted the Deputy Collector with fists and AK-47 butt severely injuring him.
