KARACHI: President Federation of Pakistan Chambers of commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Daroo Khan Achakzai underlined the need to promoting in-depth cooperation in economy, trade and investment between Sichuan and South and Southeast Asian countries under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

President FPCCI who is currently in Chengdu, China Chaired the China-South & Southeast Asia Business Leaders Summit since Pakistan is the Rotating Chair country for the summit this year.

Speaking on the occasion, Achakzai highlighted the investment opportunities offered by Pakistan under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as well as emphasized the importance of regional multilateral trade between China, South Asia and Southeast Asia.

Daroo Khan also unveiled the inauguration of establishment of Panda Centre at Islamabad and witnessed the agreement signing of Sichuan Commodities Exhibition and Culture Centre to be established at Islamabad.

The Provincial Government of Sichuan Province requested FPCCI to sign an agreement with Chengdu Association for Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (CAFTEC) in the future and enhance cultural and trade activities with Sichuan Province since Chengdu and Lahore have been sister cities.

Other distinguished leaders at the event namely Vice Governor of Sichuan Province Li Yunze, SAARC CCI President Ruwan Edirisinghe, Vice Chairman CCPIT Chen Jianan and leaders of delegations of South and Southeast Asian countries in their speeches highlighted the role and importance of Pakistan in regional cooperation and categorized Pakistan as an integral part of One Belt One Road initiative.
