SHC summons report of technical committee by Oct 05 Demolition of dangerous buildings

KARACHI: A division bench of High Court of Sindh headed by Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi sought report of Technical  Committee of Sindh Building Control Authority in respect of three building demolished in Liaquatabad Area.

The bench earlier heard Sohail Hameed advocate appearing for the petitioners, residents of three building constructed on plot no 5B, C&D. The counsel submitted that SBCA and land mafia in connivance got these building declared as dangerous. He submitted that under the SBCA laws and Karachi Town Planning Regulations, 2002, a procedure has been prescribed for declaring a building/structure dangerous. A technical committee has to be formed to inspect the structure and after evacuation of the residents it was to decide that whether the building structure is repairable or needs to be demolished. In the present case the procedure and rules were not followed and while taking advantage of pending petition, the respondents demolished the structure, the counsel contended.
