KARACHI: An appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) on Monday ordered production of a Toyota Surf vehicle which was allegedly in use of a senior custom official.

The vehicle was detained by the Directorate of Custom Intelligence & Investigations for being smuggled one. The petitioner  Syed Shahzad Raza Abidi through his counsel Ms Dil Khurram Shaheen advocate has submitted that the Adjudicating authority of Pakistan Customs has ordered release of the vehicle. Instead of releasing the vehicle, the same is in use of a senior high official Mr Gardezi, the petitioner maintains.

The counsel for petitioner referred to a judgment by the Supreme Court of Pakistan which requires that vehicles or goods detained for being non custom paid could not be used and shall be deposited in the ware house being “case property”.

The bench after detailed hearing ordered custom officials concerned to produce the said vehicle before the Nazir of the court on or before Sept 13, the next date of hearing in the case.
