SHC stops collection of Anti Dumping Duty

KARACHI: An appellate bench of High Court of Sindh comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Zulfiqar Ahmed Khan on Friday stopped customs and other respondents from charging Anti Dumping Duty from importer of steel sheets.

The bench was hearing a petition filed by Project Craft Private Limited. A counsel from Franklin Law Associates told the bench that vires of the act has been challenged before Special Customs Appellate Tribunal. He further contended that when the goods were loaded from China, Anti Dumping Act was not promulgated and recoveries under the said act on consignments issued prior to the act are not proper and leviable.

The bench after hearing the counsel for petitioner ordered issuance of pre-admission notices to the respondents while restraining them from collecting Anti Dumping Duty.
