QUETTA: Customs Court Quetta will hear bail application of Haji Sadiq on Monday morning in the FIR lodged by Customs pertaining to smuggling, therefore robust security arrangements have been made to avert any law and order situation.

Haji Sadiq is a notorious smuggler and primary accused in the murder of Deputy Collector Dr. Abdul Qudoos.

Dr. Abdul Qudoos was attacked and tortured by Haji Sadiq and his associates just after, a consignment of smuggled tiles was seized by Customs. Dr. Abdul Qudoos succumbed to his injuries after six days of the incident.

Two Preventive Officers from Karachi including Asfundyar Khan and Mehet Usman have reached Quetta to take custody of Haji Sadiq as he is also nominated in two FIRs lodged by MCC Preventive Karachi.

Sadiq was granted bail in the Abdul Qudos murder case by the Additional Session Court. On the bail hearing, over 200 persons were present at the court. They harassed the Customs officials and officers of MCC Preventive Karachi were warned and threatened of dire consequences if any attempt was made to move Haji Sadiq to Karachi.

Sources said the officers of MCC Preventive are constantly being followed and threatening calls are being made from different numbers. Sources said some members of Baluchistan government have also contacted the officers warning them that Haji Sadiq must not be moved to Karachi.

It was also known that some members of Baluchistan government are trying to get Haji Sadiq’s bail so that he must not be moved to Karachi.

Haji Sadiq, an Afghan national, has developed a comprehensive smuggling network across the country and has close ties with politicians, bureaucracy and law enforcement agencies.

Collector MCC Preventive Karachi Dr. Fareed Iqbal Qureshi has issued stern directives that Haji Sadiq must be moved to Karachi for investigations along with his associates nominated in FIRs.

A large number of Haji Sadiq associates and supporters would gather at the Customs Court on Monday morning, and law and order situation is likely to be created. Sources said strict security arrangements have been made and large quantity of police, FC and levies will also be present at the court.
