SHC orders release of goods after securing of disputed amount of duty

KARACHI: A customs appellate bench of High Court of Sindh disposed off a petition filed by Hafeez Trading Company which challenged the detention of the out of charge goods.

As the petition was taken up, the bench was informed that goods were cleared under a PCT heading which was not relevant and relevant PCT requires additional amount of duty and taxes. The  bench ordered the petitioner to deposit the disputed amount of duty and taxes with the collectorate concerned while customs was directed to release the goods after securing the disputed amount. They were also directed to issue delay detention certificate, The bench after hearing lawyer from Franklin Law Associates and customs disposed of the petition in above terms.
