KARACHI: Federal Board of Revenue has constituted a Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Cell to ensure effective and timely completion of FATF related Action Plan.

The FATF Cell is placed under the Director General, Directorate General of Intelligence & Investigation-FBR, Islamabad.

The FATF Cell will serve as focal point for all activities related to Customs compliance for FATF issues.

The FATF Cell may seek information required for FATF related work from the Board, field formations, Directorates and record of meetings.

FBR has advised head of field formations/ Directorates to create enabling environment for this unit considering its sensitive nature.

The following officers are transferred to FATF Cell/Directorate of CBCM and they are relieved from their duties to report at new place of posting with immediate effect and fill further orders:-

Abdul Waheed Marwat (PCS/BS-20) Director Cross Border Currency Movement will also look after the charge of FATF Cell.

Muhammad Asif (PCS/BS-19), on repatriation from National Highway Authority will join as Additional Director, FATF Cell.

Wajid Zaman (PCS/BS-18), Deputy Collector, Model Customs Collectorate, Islamabad is appointed Deputy Director, FATF Cell.

Zahoor Ahmed Mughal (BS-16), Superintendent, Directorate General of Intelligence & Investigation-FBR, Islamabad is posted Superintendent, FATF Cell. Sajid Mehboob (BS-16), Intelligence Officer Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation-FBR, Rawalpindi is appointed Intelligence Officer, FATF Cell.

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) formally placed Pakistan on the grey list due to ‘strategic deficiencies’ in its anti-money laundering and terrorism financing regime. The highly anticipated decision was taken by the FATF Plenary that met in Paris on June 29, 2018.
