KARACHI: A customs appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui and Justice Mehmood A Khan on Wednesday allowing an application for urgent hearing filed by owner of a vehicle ordered issuance of notices to respondents for Aug 06.
The bench was hearing an application filed by counsel Ms Dil Khurram Shaheen advocate for petitioner Shah Jahan Baloch whose Wrangler jeep was in custody of the Directorate of Intelligence & Investigations (I&I) of Pakistan Customs. The vehicle was seized from Liberty signal, Khalid Bin Waleed Road on charge of being smuggled one and non custom duty paid. The petitioner maintains that he has purchased the vehicle from army auction and in this situation the accusation means that army was using the smuggled vehicles. The petitioner also sought implementation of the order of Special Customs Appellate Court which has ordered release of the vehicle.
The counsel for petitioner arguing the urgency submitted today that the vehicle was being misused by the custom officials.
The bench after this argument ordered issuance of the notice to the respondents for Aug 06.
