QUETTA: Pakistan Customs with the assistance of FC, Police and other agencies conducted an operation near Saranan area and recovered large quantity of smuggled goods.

 On the instructions of Additional Collector Jameel Baloch, Deputy Collector Asim Rehman and Assistant Collector planned an operation with the assistance of other law enforcement agencies. Three trucks coming from border area were spotted, but the drivers on seeing the Customs officials escaped.

On inspection smuggled goods including cloth, betel nut, gutka, blankets and other goods worth Rs50 million were recovered.

Collector MCC Quetta Dr. Iftikhar has issued stern warning to all the check posts that all the documents of Customs clearance should be properly stamped, so that these documents could not be used again.

After the martyrdom of Deputy Collector Abdul Qudoos, Chief Collector Zulfiqar Chaudry held meeting with other law enforcement agencies, and a joint crackdown is underway on smugglers.

Meanwhile, Inspector Aslam Solangi is appointed IO in the FIR against Haji Sadiq Samjrani and his associates. Haji Sadiq is a notorious smugglers and the prime accused in the murder of Deputy Collector Abdul Qudoos.

The court has granted 14-day remand of Haji Sadiq to Customs. After the Customs investigations are completed, Haji Sadiq is likely to be shifted to Islamabad for further investigations pertaining to his connections in Afghanistan, as he is an Afghan national.
